// Google Play beta test
Test Custom RR on Google Play
The same app as every other channel, you just get it through the Play Store, and as a tester you get new builds about 5 days before everyone else. Every tester also helps Custom RR reach the public Play Store. It just takes three steps.
// Almost there
11 of 12 testers
Just one more tester and Custom RR goes live on the public Google Play Store. Joining below and installing through the Play Store is what gets it over the line, and sharing this page with one person who has an Android phone is the biggest help.
Join in three steps
Join the testers group
Open the group and tap Join group. This step is required, just viewing it does not count, and the test page in step 2 will not let you in until you have actually joined.
Join the testers groupOpt in to the test
Once you have joined the group, open the testing page and accept the invite to become a tester for Custom RR.
Open the testing pageInstall from the Play Store
Once you are in, install from the Play Store. Access can take a little while to propagate after you join.
Open in the Play StoreUse the same Google account for all three steps, the one on your phone, or Play will not recognise you.
You must install the Google Play build, not the GitHub one. Only Play Store installs count toward the 12 testers, and you cannot run the GitHub build and the Play beta at the same time. They are the same app signed with different keys, so Android will not let one replace the other. If you are on the GitHub build, uninstall it first, then grab the Play version here.
Please keep it installed for about two weeks
Google only lets the app go public once enough testers stay opted in for 14 days in a row. Just keeping Custom RR installed is the single most helpful thing you can do. Prefer not to use Google Play? Grab the APK from GitHub Releases or the Amazon Appstore, you just get new features a few days later. Important fixes always go to every channel at once.
